Clubhouse

This new biggest thing is taking social (and Elon Musk’s eardrums) by storm, learn about it in more detail, or read up on its features below!

Starting a Room

Anyone can start a room on Clubhouse and begin broadcasting audio to users who join in.

Rooms can be either Open – meaning anyone can find and join, Social – meaning anyone who follows you can join, or Closed – meaning only those who are invited by the moderator or are a member of the club that created the room can join. When you create a room, you have the option of adding a topic so your room is more easily found.

Security Features

Concerns have been expressed about Clubhouse’s security and lack of moderation, with some rooms reported to be broadcasting misinfo and harmful bigotry. Late in 2020 the app added security features including blocking, muting, in-room reporting and a way for moderators to close a room.

Clubhouse also introduced “temporary and encrypted audio recording, solely for Trust & Safety purposes.” Clubhouse’s terms of service prohibit the recording of a conversation without express written permission of all speakers involved. Read up on their Community Guidelines.
